Born in Port Jefferson, NY he came to this area 13 years ago from Patchogue, NY. He was a Police Officer for the Suffolk County Police Dept. and was a Vietnam Era US Army Veteran. He also belonged to the P.B.A. of Suffolk County, NY, the Patchogue Fire Dept. and was a member of The Suffolk County Marine Bureau. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law: Matthew R. & Carissa Edwards; daughters and son-in-law: Debra Ann Edwards, Beth Noel & Brian Cosgrove, and grandchildren: Emily Marie Cosgrove and Brian Patrick Cosgrove, Jr., all of Brooksville; brothers: Robert Edwards of Patchogue, NY, Frederick Edwards of Spring Hill, Thomas Edwards of Brooksville and John Edwards of Brooklyn, NY. Visitation for friends will be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Thursday, December 30, 2010 with a Funeral Service at 3pm at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted 10:30am, Friday, December 31, 2010 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
